I first heard of Bikram Yoga when the original owner of BYD contacted me several years back about possibly locating the studio in one of my shopping centers. I read some articles and discovered Kareem Abdul Jabbar of the Lakers and Chris Carter of the Vikings used Bikram Yoga to enhance their performance. I was informed of the many and varied benefits of Bikram Yoga and the strong following that were enjoyed in other parts of the country, which also piqued my interest. As fate would have it, however, the location deal fell through, and the Mockingbird Abrams location BYD now calls home was far enough away from where I lived that I did not attend a class.
Despite routine gym workouts, the last few years my energy level had noticeably dropped, while my demanding business left me stressed and tired. After a recent move closer to the studio, ten weeks ago I decided to finally take the class I'd heard so much about. I can honestly say in a short few months I feel like a new man. The energy that seemed so elusive only a few months ago is back, and the snowball effect that benefit has generated is miraculous. Breathing deeply in class brings about a relaxation that energizes my body--consequently, my sleep is deeper and more fulfilling--and with sounder sleep and an energy increase I find myself able to enjoy more activities and give more focus to my family. Through the deep stretching and relaxing Bikram provides, I have also found the stiffness from an old shoulder injury simply melted away. I have literally not felt this good in years.
I am grateful for all the benefits that Bikram Yoga has brought to me, and for the instructors that push me each day to improve and therefore reap maximum benefit. David and Karen have done an outstanding job with the studio!
